Madikwe Game Reserve is famous for Operation Phoenix, the largest animal relocation operation in the world, which has allowed more than 8,000 animals to be successfully introduced into the reserve; 28 species, including lions, elephants, buffaloes, white and black rhinos.
Today Madikwe is home to numerous animals including rare African wild dogs, cheetahs, leopards and numerous other iconic animals of the African savannah as well as more than 350 bird species, many of which are endemic to the Kalahari.
The KwaZulu-Natal region, the land of the Zulu Kingdom, is home to two UNESCO World Heritage Sites; iSimangaliso Wetland Park and the breathtaking mountainous region of uKhahlamba-Drakensburg Park, which houses precious examples of San rock art as well as being the perfect destination for hikers
The Garden Route is one of the most visited areas in South Africa, runs along the Western Cape coast and boasts lush mountain ranges, white beaches, native forests, pristine lakes and rivers and quaint towns, and is the perfect destination for those who want to try their hand at different activities from cage diving to spot white sharks to hiking or biking excursions.
Finally, the arid expanses of the Karoo offer incredible landscapes while the Addo Elephant National Park offers some of the most spectacular elephant sightings in the world as well as the Walker Bay area between Hermanus and Gansbaai is the place where whales come to the bay to mate and give birth and is one of the few places in the world where you can see it from the coast.
